Raid the Fridge!

Do you realize that sometimes you don’t know what’s in your fridge? Before you know it, you have bred a colony of bacteria on your loaf of bread. Your busy lifestyle – work commitments, rushing after your children, meeting with friends and eating out – means that you may not remember that there are some perishable produce that have been left lying at the back of your fridge.

Go on, take a look: papayas and bananas gone soft, a packet of half-eaten oatmeal almost reaching its expiry date, a bottle of honey that you had hardly touched except for that time when you had poured it over home-made pancakes, half a lemon …
Wait! Don’t throw them away! There are other ways to use them apart from blending them together into a smoothie! Why not, after cleaning your fridge, pamper yourself with a homemade mask?

We have a few very simple recipes that you can try. Go on, give your skin a treat …

Papaya and Honey
Mash half a papaya (or a whole papaya – depending on the size - if you are having a face mask party with one friend or more) and add a teaspoonful of honey.

Oatmeal and Honey
Mix equal parts of oatmeal with honey. Simple. Oatmeal has an exfoliating effect and honey moisturizes your skin.

Bananas and Honey
Mash a banana or two with a tablespoon of honey. Add a few drops of lemon juice.

Honey and Lemon
Just mix two tablespoons of honey with the juice of half a lemon. You can also add a teaspoon of vegetable or olive oil if you have dry skin.

Method
Wash your face with mild soap. Rinse with warm water. Put these home-made face masks on your face for 15 minutes. Place two sliced cucumbers over your eyes. Relax. Then, rinse with warm water. For the oatmeal mask recipe; wash with cold water after rinsing with warm water.
